Lent 2023: Ash Wednesday.

Z and I made it to church this afternoon to catch the tail end of noon Ash Wednesday service. It was the first time I’ve attended one since February 2020 because… well, you know. For the same reason we’re wearing masks now. Whew, it’s been a long 3 years.

So, usually, during Lent, I try to blog daily. Big emphasis on try, though, because sometimes, like last year, I don’t come close. The spirit is willing, but the flesh, and my blogging habit, is weak.

But something my therapist T said stuck with me this at the end of this morning’s session stuck with me (well, more than one thing, but that’s for another post). She mentioned there is “comfort in complacency” and I immediately thought, “I don’t want that kind of comfort.” I’m looking for some good trouble.
