Lent 2026: Ash Wednesday.

Whoa. I didn’t blog at all during Lent last year. I felt like the whole of last year was Lent. Still no Easter, though.
But this year, I’m going to write. Or at least try.
Today, I’m opening with Hayley Williams’ “True Believer.” It was my song of 2025. Some lyrics:
The churches overflow each Sunday greedy Sunday morning
Gift shop in the lobby
Act like God ain’t watching
Kill the soul, turn a profit

They put up chainlink fences underneath the biggest bridges
They pose in Christmas cards with guns as big as all their children

They say that Jesus is the way but then they gave him a white face
So they don’t have to pray to someone they deem lesser than them

Go off, my good sis Hayley! Go off! And she did:
The South will not rise again
Til it’s paid for every sin
Strange fruit, hard bargain
Till the roots, Southern Gotham

Yet, the chorus is so full of hope and determination:
I’m the one who still loves your ghost
I reanimate your bones
With my belief
And I’m the one who still loves your ghost
I reanimate your bones
Cause I’m a true believer
As a person who strives to act in the way of the holy “ghost,” part of the “bones” of the Body of Christ- yes, I can say, I’m still a “true believer.”
Join me over the next 40+ days, as a blog my thoughts and stuff, and enjoy Ms. Williams’ performance on The Tonight Show.
